HireFox recently had met with Felicitas Bay, who serves as the Undersecretary for Foreign Employment and Welfare Services at the Department of Migrant Workers last September 2024. The primary focus of this meeting was to explore potential avenues for collaboration aimed at enhancing the protection and welfare of Filipino workers employed abroad.
In response to the recent event and our dedication to backing the DMW’s advocacy, we engaged in discussions with representatives from the Migrant Workers Office at the Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C.
During the meeting, we explored various initiatives and programs designed to provide better resources, support systems, and opportunities for our Kababayan. We discussed potential partnerships that could facilitate access to essential services, including legal assistance, job placement, and skills training. Our goal is to ensure that every Filipino worker in the United States feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive in their respective environments.
The meeting highlighted the need for comprehensive programs that provide education and resources to Filipino workers before they leave the country such as Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar, as well as ongoing support once they are in their host countries like Post Arrival Seminar, Financial Literacy Program and more. By working together, HireFox and the Migrant Workers Office aim to create a safer and more supportive environment for Filipino workers, ultimately contributing to their overall well-being and success in the global labor market.
Furthermore, we emphasized the importance of open communication and feedback from the community, as their insights are invaluable in shaping our programs and services. By working closely with the Migrant Workers Office, we aim to create a more robust support network that addresses the needs and concerns of our fellow Filipinos living and working in the United States.
The accreditation will allow us to assist more Filipino teachers seeking employment in the U.S. The advocacy efforts of the DMW and MWO, under the banner of #TahananNgOFW, aim to make support more accessible to our kababayans, addressing both unforeseen challenges and everyday needs.
